Winter is a bitter cold song written about making your mind up definitively to leave someone. The thing is wrong and this break needs to happen. Of course it’s an understatement as to how hard it can be to end a relationship that doesn’t seem to have a future, but there’s only more pain in store later if it’s avoided now.

It’s still hopeful, talking about how both people need to know that they’ll come out better as a result as hard as it is. It also admits how good memories can be if they can simply manage to separate without inflicting further suffering.

Sometimes the best thing to do make peace with the changing of the season, respect it for what it was and always will be and embrace whatever is on it’s way next.
