This song is really special to me. A little context....

Do you have a little box somewhere where you used to store memories in? Maybe you still have it, maybe you’re better than I am and can let things go easier than I can.

Well,
I wrote “After the flood” after coming back to my parents house, where I kept my little box (I’m embarrassed to admit it was actually a curve cologne box from high school 😂) to find the basement had completely flooded due to another epic Buffalo winter combined with a broken sump pump to find the box was destroyed.... along with a lot more of my stuff.

Things can be replaced in most cases. Those little hand written notes, those little memories of you before you even knew who you were....those things I find harder to let go. But the universe has a way of making a mockery of my pathetic desire to cling to things. 🤡
